General Summary

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will have a diverse set of responsibilities and be required to work closely with all members of the MediSpend team. The individual should be highly organized and detail-oriented, with outstanding analytic and problem-solving abilities. The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for a wide-range of activities, including creating, reviewing and reconciling day-to-day accounting responsibilities. This will include, participating in timely and accurate generation of financial statements and preparing internal and external financial reports. In addition, the individual in this role will require the ability to take on special projects as assigned while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.

Essential Job Functions
  • Participate in the month-end close process by analyzing balance sheet accounts, preparing supporting reconciliations, processing journal entries, and resolving discrepancies
  • Responsible for all functions of accounts receivable
  • Assist in payroll and benefit processing
  • Prepare weekly cash flow reports
  • Working with the Finance Manager and CCO, prepare monthly commission summaries for all sales reps
  • Maintain accounting systems by inputting and verifying data
  • Assist the Junior Accountant, as necessary, with the management of the company’s travel booking platform and expense management tool
  • Document and ensure proper keeping and maintenance of financial records, making use of current technologies
  • Responsible for creating, reviewing and reconciling day-to-day accounting transactions
  • Prepare forms and manuals for accounting personnel
  • Gathers and analyzes information from the general ledger system to prepare reports as necessary
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
  • Assist in preparing accounting records, including financial statements and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department
  • Provide support and assistance during the year-end financial audit
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems and processes as necessary
  • Complete ad-hoc accounting projects
Competencies Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5 years of related finance and accounting experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP reporting and compliance, and thorough knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
  • Experience with a software or SaaS company is preferred
Preparation, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, particularly Excel and Word
  • Experience using accounting software is required. Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred
  • Outstanding analytic and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and systems, and a passion for innovation

A day in the life:

You are a Tech Lead at MediSpend. You collaborate with ETL and Data specialists, product owners, scrum master and end users to deliver Data Integration, Data Profiling solutions. You serve as a key contributor to the design and development of our data integration pipeline. You lead the development, implementations, optimizations of ETL workflows and transformations. You develop standards, procedures for ETL design and development. You are an excellent communicator – verbal and written. You help identify operational metrics to report on data quality and volumes.

What you bring to the table:

You’re a professional with a great blend of practical experience, education, and achievement.  You’re efficient at getting your points across in written and verbal mediums.  You are passionate about working with data and people.  Exposure to the healthcare data domain is a plus, but not required.

Significant experience working, building functional data pipeline for heterogeneous data sources. SQL and data analysis skills, are a given. Hands on working knowledge of ETL tool like Clover is a plus. You use statistical methods to analyze client data.

You’ve been in the trenches enabling delivery of commercial applications requiring data accuracy.  You have contributed to the development of repeatable, modern data processing pipelines.
