Employee Spotlight:
Caitlin Wixted
on Learning, Relationships, and Impact
As Medispend continues to grow as a connected ecosystem of companies and teams coming together, the experiences of our people matter more than ever.
In this spotlight, we’re excited to introduce Caitlin Wixted and share her journey—where she was before the Medispend integration, how her role has evolved, and what inspires her as part of our expanding organization.
Caitlin, tell us about your path to Medispend—where were you before, and what brought you here?
I graduated from college in 2018, so this is really only my second “big girl job” out of school. I started my career in recruiting and found a lot of success in the life sciences space, with a particular focus on technology companies. Funny enough, that’s where I first connected with Seth (our CCO)!
As much as I enjoyed recruiting, I eventually realized I wanted to sell a product rather than people. When I decided to explore new opportunities, Seth was one of the first people I reached out to. I always thought he would be a great person to work for, and I was genuinely impressed by the technology and vision of the company.
Fast forward a little over two years, and I can confidently say it was the right decision. I joined at an exciting time in the company’s growth, and it’s been incredible to watch us expand our portfolio, evolve our offerings, and continue building momentum. I’m grateful to be part of an awesome team!
How has your role shifted as Medispend has grown and the teams have come together? If at all.
For the most part, my role has remained the same. However, as mentioned above, we’ve experienced significant growth through mergers and acquisitions, which has brought a lot of new products and capabilities into our portfolio. As a result, I’ve had to become a bit of a sponge, constantly learning and building expertise across our expanding suite of solutions.
I’ve really enjoyed that aspect of the role because it keeps me on my toes and ensures that I’m always learning something new. With different products come different buyers and stakeholders, so it’s been fascinating to gain a deeper understanding of the various roles within life sciences organizations and how their unique challenges connect to the solutions we provide. It’s given me a much broader perspective on both the industry and the value our products bring to our customers.
What keeps you energized and motivated in your work, day to day?
There are a few things that keep me motivated, but most importantly, it’s my family. At the end of the day, everything I do is driven by a desire to be the best version of myself and to show up for the people who matter most. They inspire me to work hard, continue growing, and bring my best every day.
I’m also incredibly motivated by my team. We share a common goal of being the best partner possible for our clients and helping them solve real challenges within their organizations. One of the things I love most about our team is how supportive and collaborative everyone is. We celebrate each other’s successes, learn from one another, and genuinely enjoy working together.
Another thing that motivates me is knowing that the work we do can make our clients’ lives a little easier. Many of the professionals we work with have incredibly demanding roles, and it’s rewarding to help provide solutions that simplify processes, reduce administrative burdens, and allow them to focus on the work that matters most. It’s especially fulfilling when we can help a client solve a challenge, improve efficiency, and ultimately have a better experience in their day-to-day work.
That combination of family, teamwork, continuous learning, and helping our clients succeed is what keeps me motivated every day!
What originally drew you to the life sciences / healthcare technology / compliance space?
I’ve always been interested in technology and how it can make people’s lives easier, whether that’s simplifying everyday tasks or helping solve bigger challenges. The life sciences industry is constantly evolving and working to improve outcomes for patients, which makes it a really interesting space to be in. Compliance might not be the flashiest part of the industry, but it’s a critical piece of making sure things are done the right way and that organizations can continue delivering value safely and effectively. At the end of the day, I enjoy being part of something that’s solving real problems and making a positive impact on people’s lives.
How would your teammates describe your working style?
I think my team would describe my working style as consultative, collaborative, and relationship-driven. I’m pretty laid back, positive, and try to bring good energy wherever I go. Whether I’m talking with a client or a colleague, I show up as myself and keep things genuine. I enjoy listening, understanding what’s really going on, and helping people work through challenges. Building strong relationships and connecting with people has always come naturally to me, and I think that’s something that comes through in my work every day.
What’s a moment from your time at Medispend that you’re especially proud of… a win, a breakthrough, or a tough problem your team solved together?
One moment I’m especially proud of was when my Director of Solution Engineering Matt B and I traveled on-site to present and demo our solutions for a prospective client. It was my first time doing an in-person presentation like that, and I knew we were competing against several other vendors, so there were definitely some nerves going into it.
What made it a win wasn’t anything flashy. We leaned into our personalities, our expertise, and really focused on understanding what the client needed. Instead of trying to oversell, we showed them how our solutions could solve their specific challenges. In the end, we won the deal.
That experience gave me a lot of confidence—not just in myself, but in our team. It reinforced that when we show up prepared, stay authentic, and work together, we can tackle just about anything. We have an incredible team at Medispend, and honestly, if I were a client, I’d want to work with us too.
If you could introduce one innovation or idea to improve how we work, what would it be?
I’m really interested in AI and how it can make work easier and more efficient. I think there’s a lot of opportunity to thoughtfully incorporate AI into our products where it makes sense, both to improve the user experience and add value for clients. I know this is already part of the roadmap, and I definitely agree with the direction we’re heading in. More than anything, I’d just echo that this feels like an important area to continue investing in.
To get to know Caitlin a little better, we also asked her to share a few current favorites:
Caitlin’s Current Favorites
TV Show: Right now, I’m obsessed with The Traitors and Survivor, but unfortunately, both seasons just wrapped up. Until the next season starts, I’m back to watching Friends reruns for the hundredth time.
Travel Spot: Charleston is one of my favorite cities in the U.S., but outside of the U.S., I’d have to say Portugal. My mother is from Portugal, which allows me to have dual citizenship, so I’ve been fortunate enough to spend time there throughout my life. I love visiting the places where she grew up and exploring the different cities and regions across the country. It’s a beautiful place with great food, amazing people, and a strong personal connection for me.
Favorite Quote: “Be the reason someone believes good people still exist.”
What’s one thing your teammates might be surprised to learn about you?
This is a tough one because I’m pretty much an open book. If I had to pick something, it would probably be how much I love gardening and cooking. Those are two of my favorite things to do outside of work. There’s something really satisfying about growing your own ingredients and then turning them into a great meal.
